📌 Purpose & Quick Summary
The Resource Check module provides high-resolution, real-time telemetry monitoring for your hosting account. Powered by native Linux cgroups v2 kernel isolation, it tracks your exact consumption of CPU cores, physical RAM, concurrent entry processes, running tasks, MySQL disk I/O, and per-domain visitor limits. This visibility allows you to diagnose traffic surges, identify performance bottlenecks, and prevent resource throttling before it affects website availability.

🖥️ Interface Tour & Elements
- CPU Usage Gauge: Displays real-time processor utilization as a percentage of your package's assigned CPU core allowance (e.g. 100% = 1 full dedicated CPU core).
- Physical RAM Allocation Bar: Shows exact megabytes/gigabytes of resident memory consumed by PHP-FPM worker pools, PM2 Node.js apps, and background processes.
- Entry Processes (EP) Gauge: Tracks concurrent HTTP/HTTPS connections actively being executed by dynamic PHP or application runtimes.
- Number of Processes (NPROC): Total count of active system processes, threads, and cron tasks currently spawned under your Linux user UID.
- Monthly Bandwidth Gauge: Aggregate transfer volume for incoming and outgoing web and email traffic.
- MySQL IOPS & Query Monitor: Real-time read/write throughput and queries per second against your provisioned MariaDB databases.
- Per-Domain Visitor & Pageview Quotas: Telemetry tracking unique visitor counts and pageview volume against daily safety thresholds.
🛠️ Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Accessing the Resource Monitor
- In the left navigation sidebar of the BoostonCP User Panel, click Resource Check (icon:
fa-chart-line). - The page establishes a live WebSocket/telemetry stream and renders current usage meters.
Step 2: Diagnosing Resource Spikes
- Check the CPU Usage and RAM bars during peak traffic hours.
- If the Entry Processes (EP) bar approaches 90-100%, your website is receiving more concurrent dynamic requests than your current PHP worker pool can handle concurrently.
- If RAM is at maximum, review memory-intensive WordPress plugins, object caching configurations, or long-running scripts in File Manager.
Step 3: Refreshing Telemetry Data
- If the metrics appear static, click the Retry Connection button in the header toolbar to re-sync with the server's telemetry engine.
⚙️ Complete Field & Parameter Reference Table
| Telemetry Metric | Measurement Unit | Soft Limit Action | Hard Limit Action (When Exceeded) |
|---|---|---|---|
| CPU Usage | Percentage (0 - 100%) |
Normal execution | Throttled smoothly via cgroups v2 CFS scheduler (prevents server crashes). |
| Physical RAM | Megabytes / Gigabytes | Warning in panel | Out-Of-Memory (OOM) killer restarts the responsible worker; temporary 500 error. |
| Entry Processes (EP) | Concurrent connections | Queued requests | Returns HTTP 503 Service Unavailable or 508 Resource Limit Reached. |
| NPROC | Integer process count | Warning in panel | Prevents fork bombs; new scripts fail to spawn until existing processes exit. |
| Disk Bandwidth | Megabytes/sec (MB/s) | Fair share scheduling | I/O speed throttled to protect shared storage stability. |
| Visitor Limit | Daily Unique IPs | Notification alert | Under Attack Mode activates or visitor limiting page serves depending on package. |
❓ Troubleshooting & Common Errors
1. Website Displays "HTTP 508 Resource Limit Reached"
- Cause: Your account exceeded its maximum allocated Entry Processes (EP) or physical memory limit due to unoptimized queries, traffic spikes, or bot crawling.
- Solution: Inspect the Traffic Analytics menu to verify if suspicious bots or scrapers are hammering your site. Enable Under Attack Mode or rate limiting in the Domains menu. Optimize heavy database queries and enable Redis or FastCGI caching.
2. Telemetry Card Shows "Telemetry Offline"
- Cause: Temporary loss of connection to the local monitoring daemon or high server load preventing status reporting.
- Solution: Click the Retry Connection button. If the status remains offline, verify that your internet connection is active and contact system administration.
