📌 Purpose & Quick Summary
BoostonCP is built on an industry-leading Domain Webserver Switcher architecture. Within the Domain Management Studio, you can switch any domain's backend web server between Host Nginx (PHP-FPM), Apache 2.4 (Port 8080), and OpenLiteSpeed (Port 8081) in under 1 second with zero downtime. This grants you complete flexibility to leverage Apache .htaccess rewrites, LiteSpeed caching engines, or raw Nginx performance whenever required.
🖥️ Interface Tour & Elements
When you click Manage on any domain in the ledger, the Domain Studio modal opens with modular management tabs:
- Aliases & Subdomains Tab: Configure parked domains, subdomains, and wildcard SaaS routing (
*.yourdomain.com). - Web Server Switch Tab: 1-click switcher between Host Nginx, Apache 8080 Docker container, and OpenLiteSpeed 8081 Docker container.
- Directory Tab: Re-target the document root directory or switch between
/publicand root folders. - Vhost Monaco Studio: Inspect and customize VirtualHost configuration directives directly in Monaco IDE.
- PHP Engine Switch: Change PHP versions on the fly and toggle FastCGI buffering.
- Performance & Caching: Enable OpCache, Redis object caching, or FastCGI microcaching.
- Framework Optimization: 1-click presets for Laravel (
/publicdirectory rewrites), WordPress, and Next.js. - SSL Management: Issue or renew Let's Encrypt certificates and enforce HTTPS.
- URL Redirects: Configure fast domain forwarding and wildcard paths.
- Security & DDoS Protection: Toggle Under Attack Mode and configure per-domain visitor limits.
🛠️ Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Switching the Web Server Engine
- Navigate to Domains and click Manage next to the target domain.
- Select the Web Server tab inside the studio modal.
- You will see three cards representing the available engines:
- Host Nginx: Ultra-low memory footprint, high-concurrency static delivery, direct PHP-FPM socket.
- Apache (Port 8080): Full native
.htaccesssupport, mod_rewrite compatibility. - OpenLiteSpeed (Port 8081): High-speed event-driven architecture, native LSCache engine compatibility.
- Click the Activate button on your preferred engine.
- The backend compiler instantaneously updates the Nginx edge proxy reverse configuration and reloads listeners in ~1 second.
Step 2: Configuring Framework Optimization (e.g. Laravel)
- Within the Domain Studio modal, click the Framework & Subdirectory Optimization tab.
- Select Laravel from the framework presets list.
- The document root automatically adjusts to append
/public, and standard Nginx URL rewrite rules (try_files $uri $uri/ /index.php?$query_string;) are applied. - Click Apply Framework Configuration.
Step 3: Enabling Under Attack Mode
- Click the Security & DDoS Protection tab.
- Locate the Under Attack Mode toggle switch and turn it ON.
- Set your desired Visitor Rate Limit (e.g. max 60 requests per minute per IP).
- Click Save Security Rules. Suspicious rapid requests are now automatically rate-limited at the edge.
⚙️ Complete Field & Parameter Reference Table
| Studio Tab | Parameter / Setting | Allowed Values | Practical Impact |

Switches request handling backend with zero dropped connections. |
| PHP Engine | PHP Version | 7.4, 8.0, 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 8.4 |
Instantly points domain to the corresponding PHP-FPM UNIX socket. |
| Framework | Optimization Preset | Standard, Laravel, WordPress |
Adjusts document root and rewrite rules for framework routing. |
| Security | Under Attack Mode | Enabled / Disabled |
Edge proxy challenges and throttles aggressive IP behavior during attacks. |
| Visitor Limit | Rate Threshold | 10 - 1000 requests/min |
Enforces per-IP request ceilings to prevent server overload. |
❓ Troubleshooting & Common Errors
1. .htaccess Rules Ignored on Host Nginx
- Cause: Nginx does not natively parse Apache
.htaccessfiles. - Solution: Either switch the domain to Apache 8080 or OpenLiteSpeed 8081 using the Web Server Switcher, or translate your
.htaccessrewrite rules into Nginx syntax inside the Vhost Monaco Studio tab.
2. Switching Webserver Returns "Port Conflict / Service Unavailable"
- Cause: Docker container for Apache (8080) or OLS (8081) was not started by the server administrator.
- Solution: Switch the domain back to Host Nginx for instant 100% uptime, and contact your server administrator to verify Docker container health on Ports 8080 and 8081.
